My toddlers LOVE Thomas and Friends and I consider the fact that I can sing the (quite complicated) theme tune in full, one of my specialist skills. If your kids are Thomas super-fans then they are in luck as the Thomas Playstation is on a UK tour and there are 2 stops in the North East.
The Playstation is a mobile play space with 8 stations of different activities, including;
- Photographs with Thomas
- Digging for 'gold' in a ballpool
- Looking for James and Percy in a maze
- Playing with Thomas toys including a giant jigsaw
- Dancing and moving in a motion sensor game
- Train driving video games
- Meeting the Fat Controller.
At the end of the experience kids even get a gift to take away with them. The visits are totally free but I think they will be very popular so it's probably wise to expect a crowd.
The two dates for the North East are:
8th April at Teesside Park's Toys R Us - TS17 7BS, between 10am-8pm
29th May at Smyths next to the Silverlink, NE28 9NT, between 10am-8pm
There are more photographs and information about the Thomas PlayStation here.
If you don't want to wait until 29th May, but are thinking the drive to Teesside is too far away just for the PlayStation, then what about pairing it with a trip to Preston Park, TS18 3RH, which is a 10 minute car journey from the PlayStation. I haven't been yet, but I've heard brilliant things about it, and it's an absolute bargain at £5 entry for a pass for the whole family which lasts a year! On 8th April as well as exploring the family friendly museum, grounds and play park you can catch the Farmyard Friends event at Preston Park, and meet Harry the goat, Terence the turkey, Ben and Jerry the Alpacas, plus rabbits, hens, ducks, guinea pigs and chinchillas. That's all included in the annual pass, and face painting is also available for a small cost. There is loads more information about Preston Park on fab blogger North East Family Fun's post.
If you visit here, or any other great family events, then don't forget to share a photograph on instagram using the hashtag #newcastlewithkids or #northeastwithkids.
